Help Xcel Energy Make Some Big Plans for the Future

In an interesting development (and probably in response to Community Power's comments to state regulators that Xcel’s stakeholder sessions should be held at a time accessible to a wider range of interested individuals rather than only during work hours on weekdays), Xcel Energy is holding a "non-technical public informational Open House at an evening time.

Tuesday April 2nd from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Location: Wilder Center, 451 Lexington Pkwy N, Saint Paul, MN 55104

See Facebook Event page Xcel Set up.

Xcel is required to come up with a 15-year energy plan that looks at a wide range of scenarios of ways how Xcel can meet customers’ energy needs for the years 2019-2034. We want to ensure the scenarios they study includes giving a fair consideration for distributed renewable energy generation as well as questioning whether a utility with a 100% carbon free goal should be buying new natural gas plants

On the website they created for the event, Xcel stated how "Public input is important to develop these plans" and also listed a basic agenda for the evening:

  • What is an Integrated Resource Plan?
  • How does it affect Xcel Energy customers?
  • How can individuals get involved (on an ongoing basis)?
  • What is the timeline?

This is a great opportunity to ask Xcel questions about its plans for the future and let them know what you would like to see.

It is critical to get folks in the room to provide feedback and put pressure on Xcel to develop the best plan.

Light refreshments will be provided
