The Minneapolis Clean Energy Partnership is the outcome of our Minneapolis Energy Options campaign from 2013, which Community Power originated as. In response, Xcel and CenterPoint vowed to help the City with meeting its ambitious climate and clean energy goals. These meetings are where we will hear the extent to which the utilities are being true to their word. As CenterPoint grows more and more conservative and shed their progressive staff members, and Xcel continues to block solar access while raising rates - the future of the City's trust hangs in the balance.

We understand that Xcel Energy will start sending Chris Clark, the President of their company in MN, to these meetings, at the request of the City. This is a marked change from them sending mostly government relations staff to represent. A similar equivalent from CenterPoint may also begin attending. Are the utilities worried? 

We encourage you to attend their Second in-person meeting in over 2 years. Letting Xcel and CenterPoint know that the community is watching will help hold them accountable to the promises they made.
